Camp blankets and badges are serious things in the world of Guiding and Scouts. Despite my involvement for the past twenty years it’s only in the last two that I’ve made the camp blanket (hand sewn of course).

I was asked about what badge is my favourite – this one is
I’d love it to be deep an meaningful but a lion eating an oreo is really all it is (well the cookie says ’78 and that is when I appeared on the earth).

hey just wondered what shape your cut out in the blanket as im looking to re style my blanket, and loved these designs and your is the best that i have seen. i have seen a few that have a thin rectangle taken out in the centre of on half however i fell yours is alot better how does it sit when you wear it ?? thanks for your help

I used a shawl as the template so the shape was based on that. It was a thin rectangle with a circle/teardrop on the neck area. It’s a fleece blanket so the edges are rolled and stitched in the hope they wouldn’t stretch (seems to be working so far).
It sits slightly longer at the front than the back so I can cover my legs. I like it a lot though I’ve found with action songs it can fall off so I’ve added a couple of big bottons to the front so that I can keep it on even if jumping
